Congressman Brooks Joins Armed Services Committee Chairman McKeon in Call to Preserve National Security

Press Release

Date: March 1, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

This morning Congressman Mo Brooks (AL-05), joined Buck McKeon (CA-25), Chairman of the House Armed Service Committee (HASC), and all HASC Subcommittee Chairmen, for a press conference at the U.S. Capitol highlighting the importance of preserving our national security.

Congressman Brooks said, "It is critical to the future of America's national security that we halt sequestration immediately. These disproportionate defense cuts have been damaging both national security and our economy since August 2011. That damage will increase dramatically over the coming days, weeks, and months."

Brooks continued, "I stand with my fellow members of House Armed Services in the call to preserve our national security. I voted against the bill that created the sequester, and I have voted five times on the House floor to end or mitigate the damaging effects of sequestration. I have co-sponsored various bills to stop the sequester. It is time for the Senate and the White House to join us in fighting to protect our national security."
