Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D. (R-South Louisiana), today issued the following statement after it was announced the State of Louisiana will be receiving federal funds to help parish governments in designated parishes recover from the severe storms and flooding occurring between January 8-17, 2013.
"The federal disaster declaration comes at a time when many parish government services continue to rebuild in the aftermath of the severe flooding resulting from sudden storms in January. These storms and flooding interrupted many basic parish services in areas throughout South Louisiana. The money will be used for the assistance of emergency work and the repair of disaster-damaged facilities in designated parishes. Many areas were affected, and I hope this funding leads to a quicker recovery process so citizens will experience minimal disruption moving forward."
