Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D., (R-South Louisiana) issued the following statement after being named to the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Trade by committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI). Congressman Boustany will continue to serve as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Oversight:
"As South Louisiana's voice on Capitol Hill, I am honored to be named to the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Trade. With hundreds of millions of dollars of goods annually passing through shipping channels in the Third Congressional District, I have a keen interest in global commerce and trade and their effects on our nation's ports and harbors. Serving on this subcommittee affords me an opportunity to bring the viewpoints and concerns of South Louisiana to the forefront of policy discussions.
"I am also looking forward to working with the House Ways and Means International and Energy Tax Reform Working Groups. Energy policy continues to play an important role for economic growth in our country. I remain committed to leading the charge in reforming the tax code and empowering small businesses to create jobs. I would like to thank Chairman Dave Camp and the House Ways and Means Committee for allowing me to serve in these new capacities as I continue to serve as the Chairman for the Subcommittee on Oversight."
