Issue Position: Health Care

Issue Position

After his grandmother suffered a stroke when he was just a young child, she went into a coma. When she woke up, she was paralyzed on the left side of her body. For 27 years, Steven visited his grandmother in a nursing home. Often, she would be relocated to a new care facility based on the availability of beds and staff. Steven's grandmother relied on the social safety net and programs like Medicaid to ensure her quality of life did not deteriorate.

Steven wants seniors to be able to rely on the programs they have paid into their entire lives, so they can receive adequate benefits to help defray rising health care costs. For Steven, Social Security Medicare, and Medicaid must be protected. They are the bedrocks of the promises made to our nation's most vulnerable citizens to care for them when they are in need.
