Statement on vote against HR 273

Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Representative Ann Kirkpatrick, D-Ariz., released the following statement after voting against HR 273, a bill that rescinds the administration's 0.5 percent pay adjustment for civil servants:

"This bill was a political stunt that picked an easy target: hard-working civil servants whose salaries have already been frozen for years. I could not in good conscience vote against the nurses and doctors who care for wounded warriors at our Veterans clinics, or the Border Patrol agents who patrol and protect our communities, or the firefighters who battle to save our national forests. In voting no, I stand with our working families."
