Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today issued the following statement on Memphis International Airport becoming one of five additional airports to be approved for TSA Pre✓.
"I've been encouraging the Transportation Security Administration to include Memphis International Airport in the TSA Pre✓ program for quite some time," said Congressman Cohen. "TSA Pre✓ will enable travelers who pose no security risk the opportunity to move thru the screening process more quickly, enabling security personnel more time to focus on passengers they need to focus on. The TSA Pre✓ is safe, effective and quickly becoming an established program across the country."
The Transportation Security Administration today announced five more airports will offer TSA Pre✓, bringing the total number of airports participating to 40. By April 1, 2013, eligible passengers flying on participating airlines out of Memphis International (MEM), Austin-Bergstrom International (AUS), Cleveland Hopkins International (CLE), Nashville International (BNA) and Raleigh-Durham International (RDU) airports may receive TSA Pre✓ benefits.
Select passengers traveling on Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines and US Airways are eligible to participate in expedited screening at available locations. To date, more than 6.5 million passengers have experienced TSA Pre✓ which allows passengers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and their 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels bag in a carry-on.
