Statement

U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) released the following statement on the New England Fishery Management Council's decision to approve drastic cuts in cod catch limits in the Gulf of Maine:

"The New England Fishery Management Council's decision to reduce catch limits on cod is certainly disappointing and will have a devastating impact on New Hampshire fishermen. The new limits will not only put the livelihood of our state's fishermen at risk, but will also threaten the historic and important fishing industry in New England. I am pushing the Department of Commerce to reconsider the implementation of these catch limits and will continue to look for ways to protect the jobs of fishermen and the fishing industry in our state."
