Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-1) released the following statement in reaction to the President's 2013 State of the Union address:
"While I appreciate the President's efforts to communicate with Congress, this country is facing serious deadlines in the coming weeks that create enormous uncertainty for Virginia, our economy, our military and the American people. These issues demand not words, but action. The looming cuts coming from sequestration will have devastating effects, without solving the root of Washington's reckless spending problem. I do not believe, as the President does, that Washington should take in more money than it already does. Economic prosperity for hard-working, middle class Americans comes not from more government programs, but through an efficient government that simply supports each individual's freedom to innovate and create. Leaders in Washington, D.C., must put aside motivations for a political victory, put our country first and implement solutions to end economic uncertainty and get our country moving forward."
Congressman Rob Wittman represents the First District of Virginia. He serves on the House Natural Resources Committee and the House Armed Services Committee where he is the Chairman of the Readiness Subcommittee.
