"Americans should not be forced to choose between higher tax rates or devastating cuts to our nation's defense and domestic programs in order to address our national deficit. Republicans have offered to work with President Obama to seek a solution that prevents tax hikes, protects jobs and averts the fiscal cliff."

"Rather than increase the tax rate, we should focus on tax reforms that close loopholes and narrow deductions."

"Congress and the President have four weeks to get this done. I urge the President to work with us to find a solution that saves small businesses, protects our military from devastating cuts, and prevents a tax hike on the American people."
