Today-Congressman Rubén Hinojosa (D-TX-15) will welcome the University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) Mariachi Aztlán to President Obama's 2013 inauguration and events. The mariachis will perform at the Texas "Black Tie and Boots Ball" on January 19th and at the Latino Gala on January 20th. The mariachis will also be guests of Congressman Hinojosa who has provided the 15 member group with tickets to President Obama's inauguration on the steps of the U.S. Capitol on January 21, 2013. This will be the second time the UTPA Mariachi Aztlán will perform at events during President Obama's inauguration festivities. They were invited to President Obama's first inauguration in 2010.
"I have had the pleasure of hosting the UTPA Mariachi Aztlán in Washington, D.C. over the years and each time they bring such joy and amazement to the members of Congress and visitors on Capitol Hill through their performances," said U.S. Rep. Hinojsa. For a second time the UTPA Mariachi Aztlán has been invited to President Obama's inauguration so we know for sure the sounds of the music of Deep South Texas are always welcomed in our nation's capital."
