Today, Congressman Xavier Becerra (CA-34), Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, released the following statement after President Obama's State of the Union address:
"As President Obama's remarks tonight made clear, we still have a lot of work to do. The President has outlined his plan to create jobs and strengthen the middle class, and it is up to Congress to work with the President to get this done for the American people. We can do this. We can grow our economy from the middle out by investing in manufacturing, infrastructure, and clean energy. We can ensure that the next generation of Americans can compete in the global economy by investing in education. We can honor our heritage as a nation of laws and a nation of immigrants by finally enacting comprehensive immigration reform. And we know that the best way to reduce the deficit is by addressing the jobs deficit and continuing the President's economic recovery efforts of the past four years. Let's work with the President to get the job done."
