Kildee "ready to get to work" for Michigan's Fifth District, eager to find bipartisan solutions to issues facing country.
Congressman Dan Kildee was sworn into the 113th session of the U.S. Congress today, becoming one of Michigan's newest Members of Congress and the new representative for Michigan's Fifth Congressional District, which includes Genesee, Bay, Arenac, Iosco and parts of Saginaw and Tuscola counties.
"It is an honor to represent my hometown of Flint and all of the surrounding communities in mid-Michigan that I call home," said Congressman Kildee. "I'm eager to get started and ready to work tirelessly on behalf of my constituents in the Fifth District each and every day. There are certainly many pressing matters currently facing our country and I look forward to working with other members of Congress -- both Democrats and Republicans -- in the coming term to find common sense solutions to the problems we face."
Last month, Congressman Kildee was named to the highly coveted and influential House Financial Services Committee, which will position him to be a strong advocate for mid-Michigan and its shared interests, values and industries. House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi also announced last month that Congressman Kildee was elected by his fellow freshman members of Congress to serve as a representative on the Steering and Policy Committee of the House Democratic Caucus, marking the first time in recent years that incoming members were able to directly elect their representative on the committee.
One district office is already open to serve constituents needs in Flint, located in the Phoenix Building at 801 S. Saginaw St. Additionally, Congressman Kildee will have a Washington, D.C. office, located at 327 Cannon House Office Building. Both offices will be open starting today and constituents are welcome to visit either office to contact Congressman Kildee. Announcements regarding additional offices in the district will be made in the coming weeks.
Constituents of the Fifth District are also encouraged to visit www.dankildee.house.gov, which is a quick, easy and reliable way to contact Congressman Kildee and his office. Congressman Kildee is also committed to reaching constituents through various social media sites, including Facebook and Twitter.
