Today Maryland Congressman Chris Van Hollen, Ranking Member of the House Budget Committee, issued the following statement after President Obama announced that he would nominate Jack Lew as the next Secretary of the Treasury:

"Having worked closely with Jack Lew on the wide variety of budget, tax, and economic issues facing our nation, I'm confident he will make an excellent Secretary of the Treasury. A tireless champion of working families, Jack comes to work every day with the goal of putting Americans back to work and growing our economy. He understands the unique needs of both Wall Street and Main Street, and he has been an ardent supporter of the President's balanced approach to get our fiscal house in order. I applaud the President's choice and urge the Senate to act quickly to confirm him."
