Boustany Seeks for President to Honor Pledge to Cut Deficits in Half with PLAN

Statement

Date: Feb. 6, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Charles W. Boustany, Jr., M.D., (R-South Louisiana) issued the following statement after H.R. 444, the Require a PLAN Act, passed the House of Representatives earlier today:

"This president pledged to cut the federal deficit in half by the end of his first term. It's past time for the White House to explain to the American people how it plans to balance the budget and eliminate trillion dollar deficits. With four consecutive budgets containing trillion dollar deficits, taxpayers are tired of this administration habitually spending money our nation does not have. House Republicans continue seeking efficient and sensible solutions with budget proposals addressing our nation's fiscal problems. Until this Administration performs its basic duty required by law of providing Congress with a budget, the federal government's runaway spending will continue. Unfortunately, the pledge made by the president remains hollow and serves as a sign of a broken promise to the American people."
