Press Release

Date: Jan. 22, 2013
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Abortion

U.S. Rep. Todd Rokita today issued the following statement on the 40th anniversary of the Supreme Court's controversial decision in Roe v. Wade:

"More than 55 million unborn children have been lost to abortion since 1973, and on this solemn anniversary, we must reaffirm our commitment to building a culture of life.

"As a pro-life American, I believe that life begins at conception, and our laws should reflect that. That's why I have consistently supported pro-life legislation in Congress, including a ban on taxpayer funding for abortions.

"Every human life is precious, and all of our unborn children have the right to be welcomed into life and to grow up and pursue their dreams. I look forward to welcoming the Hoosiers who are participating in March for Life later this week, and to renewing our commitment to protecting the smallest and most vulnerable among us," said Rokita.

On Friday, January 25, the annual March for Life will be held in Washington, D.C. All Hoosiers who are visiting Washington for the march are invited to stop by a special reception on Friday from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm in Room 340 of the Cannon House Office Building. Additionally, all are invited to stop by Rokita's office at 236 Cannon House Office Building for coffee and refreshments throughout the day on Friday.
