Woodall to Chair RSC Budget and Spending Task Force

U.S. Representative Steve Scalise (R-LA), chairman of the most conservative group of Congressmen--the Republican Study Committee (RSC)--has appointed U.S. Representative Rob Woodall (R-GA) as chairman of the RSC's Budget and Spending Task Force.

"With our current President and Senate, there will always be pressure to cave and move to the middle on the issues. As the most conservative faction in the House, the RSC--under Chairman Scalise's leadership,--will work to bring out the best in our Republican leadership and hold them true to their conservative principles," Woodall said.

Woodall will continue the work of past RSC Budget and Spending Task Force chairmen including Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH) and Congressman Jeb Hensarling (R-TX). He will work with RSC Chairman Scalise to build a task force of members dedicated to crafting a conservative budget focused on cutting spending and restoring sanity to Washington's fiscal policy.

Woodall said, "I am proud to have been tasked with chairing this important committee. It is my goal to work with the RSC and the task force to pass a budget in the U.S. House of Representatives that Americans can rally behind. The budget my team will craft will not be a spending budget, but a saving budget. Like any other American household, we must look for ways to cut spending and balance America's checkbook as fast and as reasonably as possible. The decisions that we make will be hard and in some cases painful, but more importantly, they are necessary if we are to rescue America's economic future. I am eager to begin our work right away."

In addition to chairing the RSC Budget and Spending Task Force, Woodall begins his second term in the U.S. House of Representatives as a member of the House Budget Committee, the House Committee on Rules, and the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform.
