Today, Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) issued the following statement in response to reports of a congressional budget resolution that might reduce Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid benefits, including the use of chained CPI:
"I, along with my fellow progressives, will never support the beginning of the dismantling of the New Deal. We will never support reductions in Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid benefits -- and chained CPI is a reduction in Social Security benefits. We will oppose such cuts with all of our strength."
