As a well-respected chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, he has represented our nation impeccably, both at home and abroad. He is the epitome of a diplomat, and will bring to Foggy Bottom a formidable intellect and considerable gravitas.
"President Obama could not have made a finer choice to lead the State Department. Senator Kerry and I have enjoyed a close working relationship over the years, and I look forward to continuing that in his new role upon confirmation."
