Terry Statement Following Bipartisan Passage of No Budget No Pay Act

Statement

Date: Feb. 5, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Lee Terry (R-NE) released the following statement today upon passage of the No Budget, No Pay Act:

"This is a positive step forward for Washington to set its fiscal priorities. Although the House has passed a budget every year, the Senate has failed to do its job for over 1,365 days. The time has come for the Senate to perform its most basic duty and join with the House to responsibly reduce spending by prioritizing our needs and negotiating a budget. The No Budget No Pay Act holds the Senate accountable to every hardworking taxpayer, small business owner, senior on a fixed income and American family affected by out of control spending.

"We have lived without a budget for too long. We need to get our fiscal house in order. Every Nebraskan and American household must set and live by a budget every month and it's time the United States lived by this simple notion. That is why I support this bill and am a proponent of a balanced budget amendment."
