With Pay on the Line, Senate Democrats Finally Commit to Producing a Budget

Location: Washington, DC

House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following statement regarding the Senate's passage of the "No Budget, No Pay" Act:

"Establishing a budget is a necessity for families and small businesses across the country. House Republicans and Americans agree that the federal government must also responsibly plan by preparing a budget. For the past two years, the House has passed a budget that tackles the debt and deficit, while focusing on economic growth and job creation. While the law requires that the Senate produce an annual budget, they have refused to do so for nearly four years. It is concerning that it took the threat of withholding their paychecks for the Senate to agree to produce a budget. It is time for Senate Democrats to take their responsibility seriously and join House Republicans in addressing Washington's spending problem."
