Vitter: LaHood was Strong, Effective Collaborator

Press Release

Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator David Vitter (R-La.) today made the following comment regarding news reports that U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood will not serve a second term.
"I certainly wish my friend from the House Ray LaHood all the best," Vitter said. "Ray's been a strong, effective secretary and a particularly great collaborator as we put together and passed the last highway bill."

Vitter is the top Republican on the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works and helped get the highway transportation reauthorization legislation known as Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century (MAP-21) passed through the U.S. Senate last year. Last Congress, he served as Ranking Member of the Environment and Public Works Subcommittee on Transportation and Infrastructure, which had direct jurisdiction over the Highway Bill, and was a member of the bill's conference committee.
