Daines: Feinstein Bill Undermines Montanans' Second Amendment Rights

Congressman Steve Daines today pledged to fight efforts by Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) to limit American's second amendment rights through a sweeping ban on nearly 150 types of firearms, many of which are legally owned by thousands of Montanans.

Legislation introduced by Feinstein today in the U.S. Senate would prohibit Americans from purchasing a wide array of firearms, including some handguns and rifles. Additionally, the legislation would require a national registry of many firearms that Americans possess today.

"I will fight to stop any efforts that infringe upon Montanans' constitutional right to keep and bear arms," Daines stated. "Senator Feinstein's firearm restriction proposal is a misguided distraction that undermines Montanans' freedoms, while doing nothing to address the core challenges behind violent crime. Taking away firearms from law-abiding Montanans isn't the solution. I am committed to ensuring that Montanans' freedoms to keep and bear arms are protected."
