Maloney hails final Senate passage of Sandy aid package

Statement

Date: Jan. 28, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

After final Senate passage today of the Sandy aid bill, Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-12-NY), issued the following statement:

"This package will help families rebuild and fund desperately-needed reconstruction of infrastructure. When combined with aid to the National Flood Insurance Program that was already passed, Congress has now made good on the $60 billion in aid that was promised in the wake of this historic storm.

"As we all know, thousands of families are still homeless and struggling; four major hospitals in and around New York City sustained significant damage-- including three in my district-- and the subway system suffered the worst damage in its 108-year-long history. This legislation will address all of those fronts.

"At long last, we can say to those who've been affected by Superstorm Sandy that help is finally on the way."
