Rep. Tom Cotton (R-Dardanelle) will attend an education-reform summit today featuring former Florida Governor Jeb Bush. A+ Arkansas is hosting the event in conjunction with National School Choice Week.

Rep. Cotton will join Governor Bush, chairman of the Foundation for Excellence in Education, and parents, educators, lawmakers, and business leaders from around the state for an important discussion about the challenges faced by Arkansas's education system.

"As both a proud graduate of Arkansas's public schools and the son of a public-school teacher and principal, I believe in our public-school system. But I also strongly believe expanded school choice is the best approach to fixing our broken education system.

"Parents should control their children's education and have access to alternatives to the traditional public-school system. Further, as it does in the free-market system, the competition will help provide needed reforms to our public schools.

"I want to thank Governor Bush for his participation in today's event and for the attention his foundation has brought to education reform here in Arkansas and across the country. I look forward to following his lead to help improve the quality of and access to top-notch education in Arkansas."
