Congressman Young Statement on NPR-A Management Decision

Statement

Date: Dec. 19, 2012
Location: Washington, DC

Alaskan Congressman Don Young released the following statement today on the Department of Interior's announcement of the Integrated Activity Plan and Final Environmental Impact Statement on management of the National Petroleum Reserve (NPR-A).

"I've said it before and I'll say it again, this plan is misguided, and I remain concerned about the economic feasibility of future pipelines it would allow," Rep. Young said. "As producers begin to develop offshore in the Chukchi and Beaufort Seas, and in the NPR-A, they must have a feasible route to connect with the Trans-Alaska Oil Pipeline.

"This plan does nothing more than cave to environmental special interests and unnecessarily restricts access to rich oil and natural gas resources within a petroleum reserve."
