House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) released the following passage regarding House passage the No Budget, No Pay Act (H.R. 325):

"Producing a budget is the most basic function of our government. Yet, for almost four years, Senate Democrats have shirked their duty to the American people -- failing to draft, let alone even pass, a budget. As a result, over the last four years, Washington has produced annual deficits of more than $1 trillion, and the national debt has skyrocketed to $16.4 trillion. The No Budget, No Pay Act is very simple: if either chamber does not pass a budget, its Members will not get paid. For every year Republicans have controlled the House, we have passed a responsible budget that tackles the debt and deficit, while focusing on economic growth and job creation. Quite honestly, it is distressing that it has come to this, but it's the only way to force Senate Democrats to live up to what Americans expect them to do and pass a budget so we can begin to address our impending debt crisis."
