Leader Cantor: The House Will Insist on No Budget, No Pay

Statement

Date: Jan. 22, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

"As the Speaker said, our Conference will look to vote on a measure tomorrow that will temporarily extend the debt ceiling so that we can see the Senate actually begin to do its job. For several years now, I think it's about four, the Senate has not passed a budget.

"All we're saying is: if the President and the Senate, if this country needs to incur more debt -- Senate, please show us your plan to repay that debt, please show us your plan to control spending.

"It is about time that we come together and do our work. The American people expect no less. That's why we'll insist in the House on no budget, no pay going forward."
