Parents, working with teachers, should be empowered to make decisions about the education of their children. Parents should have the power to send their children to neighborhood schools, charter schools, magnet schools, privately-run schools, religious schools, or to home school -- free from the invasive interference of the Federal Department of Education. Intrusive policies from Washington, such as the "Common Core" curriculum that I fought against in Columbia, seek to seize control over our schools, our children, and our families.

As your Congressman, I will work to fully eliminate the Department of Education and return education funding to the states.

As your Congressmen, I will stand with parents who choose to home school their children or who seek alternative paths for their families beyond the government-run-monopoly schools.
