Courtney blasts House GOP inaction on Senate-passed Hurricane Sandy relief package

Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Joe Courtney today released the following statement after House Republicans reversed their previous position and opted not to hold a vote on a bipartisan, Senate-passed Hurricane Sandy relief package. The House GOP's decision means that a relief package will not be considered during the 112th Congress.

"The House GOP's decision in the middle of the night to skip a critical vote on Hurricane Sandy relief kills any help for Connecticut, New Jersey and New York this Congress. The Senate acted, and the House should too. It will take months to reset a vote on the floor--months of delay Connecticut can't afford."
