As state senator I do everything I can to make sure that the citizens in my district and around the state have ample opportunities for finding permanent, well-paying jobs. In addition to my work as a member the Joint Finance Committee, I have proven myself as a dedicated fiscal conservative through my work on the following senate committees: Banking, Energy & Transit, Finance, Insurance, and Labor & Relations.

I believe that we must create jobs in Delaware by encouraging and promoting the growth of small business and by creating and maintaining an environment that allows businesses of all sizes to prosper and grow. That means we must keep taxes low, provide incentives for businesses to hire, and promote a business-friendly environment that is attractive to investors and businesses alike. Also, it is important that we eliminate the "red tape" that prevents business growth and success.

During the last two years I co-sponsored the following bills:

. SB 279 provides pension increases to retired State Employees, retired Judges, retired "New" State police and retired County/Municipal Police/Firefighters
. SB 40 updates Delaware's Primary Economic Development Tax Incentive Program
. HB 275 establishes the Veteran's Opportunity Tax Credit for businesses that hire veterans
. HB 166 provides tax relief for first-time home buyers throughout the state
. HB 127 provides a gross-receipts tax cut

I will continue to work to improve Delaware's business environment and to do all that I can to ensure that our children have the same economic opportunities and advantages that we grew up with.
