U.S. Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) today announced her committee assignments for the 113th Congress. She will serve on the following Senate committees: Armed Services; Commerce, Science and Transportation; Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs; Budget; and Aging. These assignments are pending ratification by the Republican Conference and the Senate. Members of each committee will meet at a later date to elect their Ranking Members.
"These assignments put me in a strong position to stand up for New Hampshire citizens," said Senator Ayotte. "As a member of the Armed Services Committee, I will continue to fight to ensure that our servicemen and women have the resources and support they need to complete their missions. I will continue to be a strong advocate for Pease and the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.
"I'm also pleased to have been appointed to serve on the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, which oversees the Department of Homeland Security and is the Senate's chief oversight committee.
"With more than $16 trillion in debt, it's time for Congress and the president to enact spending cuts and budget reforms. As a member of the Budget Committee, I will continue my efforts to rein in out-of-control Washington spending.
"On the Commerce Committee, I will work to ensure that burdensome federal regulations don't stifle private sector innovation - and to make sure that the concerns of New Hampshire's business community are part of the debate on Capitol Hill.
"And I will be able to fight for the interests of New Hampshire seniors from my seat on the Aging Committee, which oversees issues of importance to older Americans."
