House Republican Policy Committee Chairman Tom Price, M.D. (R-GA) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives passed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for FY 2013.
"It is Congress' constitutional and moral duty to provide for the nation's defense and that begins by ensuring the brave men and women of our military have the support, the resources, and the tools they need to protect our freedoms. This FY 2013 NDAA accomplishes that goal, and it does so in a manner consistent with our commitment to individual liberty -- including religious freedom -- and equal justice under the law. It prohibits President Obama from taking any irresponsible action that might facilitate the transfer of detainees at Guantanamo Bay to the United States. In addition, it helps maintain a strong alliance with Israel, and other international partners, by fully supporting our joint-defense programs. Importantly, the national security and strategic concerns addressed avoid unduly increasing the financial burden on military families -- particularly with health care expenses. Today's package is the culmination of a good faith, bipartisan effort to maintain America's military superiority."
