Governor Brian Sandoval this afternoon made the following statement regarding this morning's horrific shooting at an elementary school in Connecticut:

"I was deeply shocked and saddened to hear of this morning's terrible shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut. As a parent myself, I cannot begin to imagine the shock and pain parents of today's innocent victims are feeling tonight. Kathleen and I, and all Nevadans, extend our thoughts, prayers and our deepest sympathies to these parents, to the victims of today's horrible tragedy and their loved ones.

"Our state and our nation grieve for the families of those affected and in their honor, I have ordered the flags of the United States and the State of Nevada flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and all State public buildings and grounds until sunset on Tuesday, December 18, 2012."
