U.S. Senator Mary L. Landrieu, D-La., released the following statement on the Administration's request for a supplemental appropriations package for the states affected by Hurricane Sandy:
"I appreciate the Administration coming forward with this important proposal for a quicker, smarter and more resilient recovery. I look forward to reviewing the package and acting on it swiftly, and I am hopeful that it will receive bipartisan support. It is critical for Congress to pass a supplemental before the end of this year that includes resources for mitigating the impact of future disasters and provides necessary flexibility for a strong, efficient recovery. Many of our existing laws present needless bureaucratic hurdles to disaster victims in their time of need. We learned these painful lessons after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and we must not repeat these same mistakes now."
