The Honorable Darrell Issa
Chairman
Oversight and Government Reform Committee
U.S. House of Representatives
2157 Rayburn HOB
Washington, DC 20515

Dear Chairman Issa:

I am writing to respectfully request that your committee continue its investigation in to the events leading up to the tragic attacks on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya and the confusing and often misleading responses from the Administration. I appreciate your committee's prior efforts to examine this situation and the October 10, 2012 hearing.

The American people's faith in our government is being challenged in the aftermath of the Benghazi attacks. It is important that we uncover exactly what happened in an effort to ensure that such a tragedy never occurs again. The Administration has not been forthright with repeated requests for more information from many Members of Congress. I appreciate every effort made by your committee to ensure that the Administration cannot simply ignore these repeated requests. Further delays in this investigation will only delay the implementation of needed recommendations to protect our foreign service officers around the globe.

I stand ready to assist you and the Oversight and Government Reform Committee with this investigation.

Thank you for your review of this correspondence. Should you have any questions regarding this letter, please feel free to contact me, or my Legislative Director, Scott Cunningham, at 5.6605 or scott.cunningham@mail.house.gov. Thank you for your continued service to the House of Representatives.

Sincerely,

Kenny Marchant
Member of Congress
