U.S. Senator Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) today released the following statement on the U.S. Department of Labor's monthly employment report showing the unemployment rate moved from 7.8 to 7.9 percent in October:

"Surely we can do better than this. Another month of nearly eight percent unemployment underscores the urgency of electing a new president who knows how to work across party lines to fix the debt and get the economy moving again."
