In numerous instances over the past four years, there have been issues to where the Secretary of State was called upon to make a decision to enforce the law. In most of those cases, she did not. Whether it be people running for an office geographically they were not allowed to, or an office that held requirements to fill the law was not followed. The issues took place on all levels as well including county, senate, board of public works, and congressional races. In all cases the correct thing to do was to not allow those individuals to run, and if they wanted to take it to court that was their right. The Secretary of State chose to do nothing. This is not only a lack of leadership and accountability; it also destroys the integrity of our elections process. The laws must be followed, and the people following the law should not be the ones that have to file a lawsuit. I will follow the Constitution and the Codes for the office of Secretary of State.
