We've faced uncertain economic times for a few years now and there is some concern that the golden days of the American economy may be gone. I don't believe this is true, but we have to face realities if we want to create a better future for our children. Advanced economies like ours only grow through innovation. And the seeds of innovation begin with strong educational foundation.
The US currently ranks 24th out of 32 industrialized countries in math education; we can do better than that.
If we give our kids the tools to compete, they will. We need to replace aged educational paradigms with classrooms of excellence, discovery and innovation. We also need to fund education to the levels necessary to create the first rate system that our kids deserve, and then watch them go on to do amazing things. I want to see Montana schools ranked the highest in the nation, and the nation's schools the highest in the world. Investment in our kids is the right thing to do and will be the strongest driver for our future economic security.
