Job creation and a sound economy are one of the most important concerns of all citizens. The key to a healthy economy and one friendly to job creation is diversity. We need to focus resources on many different economic sectors, including agriculture, medical professions, small business, manufacturing and entrepreneurship to create a job-friendly community. Industry relevant vocational training and educational opportunities need to be offered locally. Our community offers some of these services at Black River Technical College, the Greene County Industrial Training Center and our public high schools, but there is always room for more opportunities. We are in a unique position in Greene County, as a border county, where we can offer numerous incentives and programs to attract new industry. By partnering with our neighbors across the northeast Arkansas region, we can strengthen ourselves and each other, making us attractive to existing and prospective employers seeking a ready and productive work force.
