2892 PROMISE #1 -- I Will Abolish H1 B Visas

Statement

Date: Oct. 7, 2012

I believe that "Guest Worker Programs" such as H1-B are not only morally suspect, but are also a threat to the US economy and the US national security.

The biggest moral problem with these programs is the fact that the foreign workers are being exploited. Typically, they are being paid half of what an American worker would have made, and they are not allowed to quit or change jobs. It really is "Slavery 2.0".

Another class of problems with these programs is that they are a betrayal of Americans who work hard and play by the rules. It is a sin for the government to take someone who has gone to college, worked hard, and majored in Computer Science and then help them be thrown onto the garbage heap by greedy corporations.

Finally, the amount of money involved has contributed to the very high levels
of corruption we see today in the Federal government. H1-B is the largest
immigration fraud in American history. It allows corporations to reduce their
payroll expenses by at least $20 Billion per year. With this kind of money
at stake, there are lobbyists and payoffs galore. In Washington today, we see
corrupt bureaucrats, corrupt news people, corrupt think-tank workers,
corrupt academics, and (of course) corrupt Members of Congress.

When I am elected, the first thing I will do is to get rid of H1-B.
