Everyone can agree that our current education system is facing serious issues. This is evident by the continual decline in test scores over the past decade. There are many ideas being presented to address the current problems facing the education of our youth:
The current governor's teacher plan
Increased funding for primary and secondary education
School choice through vouchers
In my discussions with teachers and school administrators, the lack of parental involvement in their children's education is the single biggest issue that faces our educational system today. If parental involvement directly correlates to student achievement, how can we reengage parents?
I pledge, as your Representative, to bring an open mind to the table and listen to every point of view. The development of an effective educational system for our youth is the single most important function of state government.
