Issue Position: Gridlock in Frankfort

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2012

I'm tired of more than a decade's worth of obstruction in the State Senate. I want to speak up, and speak out, against the way in which Senate President David Williams has substituted partisanship and vendetta for leadership. The vocabulary of the Senate caucus that Sen. Williams leads has been limited to the word "no". My generation of young Democrats insists on something better. "No" is not a responsible answer to real need. "No" is not a policy or a plan. More often than not, "no" is a failure of imagination. It's a capitulation to timidity and emptiness. I want to go to Frankfort and say "yes" to the best ideas that I and others can come up with. I believe I have the right background and personality to help build coalitions for progress. I know how to get along with others and work toward an agenda that will Kentucky forward. Government by manufactured partisan crisis is destructive, and it should end.
