Bolstering opportunities for our veterans
With more and more of our friends, neighbors and family members returning home from fighting overseas, Representative Nyman has continued to ensure that veterans of all ages have access to the support programs, outreach centers, tax relief, workforce training and educational opportunities they need.
Rhonda worked with her colleagues in the Legislature in passing the monumental VALOR Act, which will greatly enhance the quality of life of our service men and women throughout the Commonwealth. Veteran-owned small businesses will see an increase in support with greater access to financial assistance and expanded contracting opportunities. Another major component of the bill is that it will assist military families as they transition in and out of Massachusetts. Transferring childrens' education credits due to military relocations has proven to be difficult and this legislation will require the Board of Education to make the transition easier on students. There will also be an expansion of services offered through the Massachusetts Military Family Relief Fund and an increase in efficiency of the veterans' service officers in our communities.
