Education is clearly the key for our youth to succeed. Intervention at the 3rd grade level when it is discovered a child cannot read is imperative if we are going to reduce the dropout rate in high school.
We have increased spending in education to the point that it takes up half of the annual state budget, yet we can barely get half of our students to graduate on time. Nothing has improved in over a decade of increased spending. Talk to a teacher. I have. They will tell you they are doing more and achieving less, because of all the hoops the state is making them jump through. We need to starve state administration and feed our local teachers.
