While I served in the DFL legislature we made significant bipartisan steps with Republican house and senate members and a Republican Governor to improve the environment.
We passed what was at the time a nation-leading renewable energy standard with bipartisan support. We worked to reduce greenhouse gas emissions over time. And a bipartisan majority put the Legacy Amendment to protect our waters, support the arts, improve our parks and trails and preserve our great outdoor heritage on the ballot in 2008.
As a member of the committee responsible for oversight of spending these new resources approved by the voters, I worked hard to make sure they were not diverted from their constitutional purpose.
Our natural resources are a Minnesota treasure. And, with the renewable energy standard, our well-educated work force is well positioned to capitalize on the green economy-the growth sector of the 21st century.
