Last weekend, I had the honor of delivering remarks at the deployment of Alpha Troop, 1st of the 104th Cavalry, the 28th Infantry Division of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. The unit departed on Sunday for training at Camp Shelby, Mississippi before a one-year deployment in Kuwait. I was so pleased to have the opportunity to visit with these brave troops and salute them before they deploy for their overseas mission. I thanked them for their courageous service to our country and wished them a safe deployment. Click here to see photos.
I also discussed the importance of caring for our troops when they return from overseas, and that means helping veterans find employment. I recently introduced legislation to create a pilot program to help veterans find jobs based on their military experience. Senator Pat Toomey (PA) has led on this issue and introduced the companion bill in the Senate. Read more here.
Please join me in sending your thanks and best wishes to these brave Pennsylvania National Guard troops, and all the men and women servicemembers who defend our great nation all around the world.
