In 2011, the General Assembly finally began the process of reining in wasteful spending. There is much more work to do in this area. The taxpayers of Wake County deserve a state government which provides quality services at a low cost. For decades, liberal free-spending politicians piled up layers of bureaucracy and duplicative programs and created a culture in state government which fostered an ever-expanding state government. The cost of their big spending ways is unsustainable and must be brought under control. As your State Representative, I will work to ensure that government operates in a common sense, businesslike manner and I will oppose all wasteful spending that is proposed. The people of Wake County have tightened their belts. State government needs to continue doing the same.
