Rokita: Number of Americans Struggling for Work Has Remained Unchanged

Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Rep. Todd Rokita issued the following statement after the Labor Department released unemployment statistics for September:

"Today's jobs report is small consolation to the 23 million Americans who are struggling for work in the Obama economy. While the top-line numbers may seem to offer a glimmer of hope, the unfortunate reality is that things just aren't getting better for people without jobs. The rate of Americans who are underemployed, or who have given up work entirely, has remained completely unchanged at 14.7 percent.

"After adding more than $5 trillion in debt and a flood of new regulations since he took office, President Obama still has nothing to show for it. In contrast, my House colleagues and I have passed dozens of bipartisan bills to get government out of the way and overhaul our tax code so that our private sector can create jobs again. That's the kind of pro-growth agenda our country needs and deserves," said Rokita.
