Congressman Marlin Stutzman (IN-03), a member of the House Budget Committee, issued the following statement after the Congressional Budget Office estimated that the federal budget deficit for the fiscal year was $1.1 trillion.
"President Obama promised to cut the deficit in half. After four straight years of deficits above $1 trillion, it's clear that the President has lost all credibility when it comes to paying down this country's debt," said Stutzman. "The House has passed a responsible budget to address the real drivers of the national debt. We've made difficult choices and spoken plainly with taxpayers. Unfortunately, the White House has consistently failed to put forward a serious budget and only repeats its calls for higher taxes, top-down regulations, and frantic deficit spending. Families are struggling in the real economy and entrepreneurs are looking for confidence. Today's announcement is another reminder that Hoosiers can't afford Washington's failures."
