Dear Friend,

As a reminder, my staff holds mobile office hours every Friday from 12:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m. at the Schaumburg Township Center, located at One Illinois Blvd in Hoffman Estates. If you cannot make it to one of my district offices, let us come to you!

Today, the House Small Business Committee Chairman Sam Graves (R-MO) issued the following statement in response to the job report from the U.S. Department of Labor: "In an economy in which nearly 23 million people are in need of work, the President's policies are just not cutting it. Worse yet, when you add in the people who have given up on looking for work the unemployment rate is closer to 11%. Americans are still suffering with an underemployment rate of 14.7%. It is obvious that over the last 4 years President Obama's economic policies have not worked." As Chairman of the House Committee on Small Business Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Tax, and Capital Access I have advocated for legislation that would remove onerous regulations and taxes and give American small businesses -- our number one job creators -- the ability to grow and invest.

Next week, the House Committee on Oversight and Government reform will be holding a hearing on the security failures that preceded the attack on the United States mission in Benghazi, Libya. The committee has been told by multiple officials that diplomats in Libya faced a series of threats and wanted additional security; however, officials in Washington turned down that request. There was clearly a security failure in Benghazi and the Committee will be holding this hearing to better understand the errors made and to make sure that the State Department acts quickly to implement needed changes.

Finally, I send out these weekly newsletters because it is important to me to keep my constituents informed about the ways in which I am working for them. You can find an archive of past newsletters by clicking here. You can also find me on Facebook and Twitter.

I work for you,

Joe Walsh
